I am not sure if anyone can ever be prepared for losing someone forever – someone who cared for you unparalleled.
No one knows exactly when Mavshi (‘Aunt’ in Marathi) was born, perhaps no one cared that she was born, some time in 60s. Mavshi struggled all her childhood for food & shelter – destiny’s hated child. Later, she had to suffer a terrible married life. Yet, she never carried a negative baggage.
One lucky day, Mavshi came into our lives & started taking care of us – looking after everything we ever needed. Despite whatever she went through in earlier stages of her life, Mavshi possessed an extremely positive & sweet persona. Literally, I can’t remember a moment I didn’t see her smile. She graced our lives with her love – me & my brother being the biggest beneficiaries. I used to wonder at her optimism & her happy ways. I still do. I think I always will.
All her wonderful memories – reading Lokmat (the local daily) every afternoon, her excitement during festivals, her recitals of old Marathi movie songs every now & then, the way she closed her eyes & prayed – are now, a legacy & a gift to us.
Mavshi broadened my definitions of intellectualism, strength, devotion & a woman. Whenever I describe beauty, I’ll think of her. Whenever I’ve to exemplify what is giving without expecting anything back – she’d come to top of my mind.
Words. Memories. Gratitude. Tears. I do not know what would even come close to the motherly love & care she has showered upon us without expecting anything back.
It takes sheer good luck to have someone care so much for you for even a moment – so many treasured years have just left me indebted for life. You were, are & will always be beyond words – Rest in peace, Mavshi!

Loss of a close someone is the biggest pain, feel very sorry that she’s no more. I’m sure she’ll have a peaceful after-life.

Really that was very shocking news for me also when mam told me. when i used to go at ur home she mam told her ” namrata la chaha(tea) dya and I always said nako mala chaha nako, she always told me tumhi chaha ghya nahitar tai mala ragawatil. I also never forget her.
